Black Carbon particulate matter contributes to regional air pollution and is generated through combustion of any fuel source. Black Carbon particles are a major component of wood smoke and diesel exhaust. The most widely-used instrument technology for the measurement of Black Carbon particulate matter in the World is the Aethalometer® developed by Magee Scientific, which has been used in routine monitoring applications for over 30 years. The Teledyne API Model 633 represents the latest generation of this Aethalometer® technology, and includes a number of significant improvements compared to earlier generation instruments. The Model 633 instrument hardware platform is easily serviceable and employs a new DualSpotTM measurement approach. The DualSpotTM technique provide a measurement of the amount of sample spot saturation that is occurring, and provides an appropriate compensation parameter in real-time. The compensation parameter is stored within the data buffer for use in data interpretation and analysis. The original single spot data are also stored in case of the need for post processing and continuity with older Aethalometer® instrument platforms The instrument combines the well-characterized Aethalometer® measurement method with a refreshed electronics and computing platform. The instrument contains a large color touch screen display with intuitive user interface. The new electronics platform offers fast and reliable data production, internal data storage, and advanced communications options. The Teledyne API Model 633 Aethalometer® is an ideal solution for today’s routine ambient air quality monitoring applications. Features
